Flights to Riyadh

Flights from London Heathrow to Riyadh King Khalid International Airport take around six hours and 30 minutes.

Flights are often cheaper between London and Riyadh from November to June, when the hot, dry climate is slightly cooler. 

With its international five-star hotels and restaurants with celebrity chefs at the helm, this wealthy city caters well to visitors with plenty of cash to spend. However, you don’t have to go far from the central Olaya district to discover something for every budget. There's a flourishing street food scene with great options at every turn. Head to the popular Tahlia Street area where you’ll find both authentic local delicacies and international restaurants that please all budgets and palates.

In the evening, you can keep your entertainment costs low by visiting the well-kept King Abdullah Park. For a small entrance fee, there are fountains, light shows and often live musical performances to enjoy.

The easiest way to get to and from Riyadh’s airport is by taxi or private car, as there’s no public transport system. There are plenty of taxis available at the airport, but you can pre-book a car if you prefer. It takes approximately 30 minutes to reach the city centre, or you can check if your hotel offers an airport shuttle service.

Once you’re in Riyadh’s city centre, travelling by taxi is the most popular option.

While the city’s bright lights and luxury hotels draw you in, it’s the history of the region that really captivates visitors. Make your way to the mud and brick city of At-Turaif for a glimpse at a more traditional way of life. This UNESCO World Heritage Site was founded in the 15th century and its homes, palaces and citadel formed the first capital of the Saudi Dynasty.

Despite Riyadh being surrounded by desert terrain, there are pockets of lush greenery for a welcome escape from the heat. Salam Park in the south of Riyadh is perfect for seeking shade under its trees and promenading around the lake. On a larger scale is King Salman Park, a huge project that’s creating an oasis of over 4000 acres of parkland dedicated to leisure, the arts and entertainment.
